Finish Shop Position

Simply Amish is growing and needs an experienced finisher to join us. You will be a valued member of a team that produces, finishes, and ships the highest quality furniture available in North America!

Experienced Finisher – requires the following:

  • Previous experience in wood finishing.
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of wood coating and finishes.
  • Experience in the operations and maintenance of finish equipment, including guns, pumps, hoses, and general spray booth maintenance.
  • Competent in mixing of finishes and the maintenance of the viscosity of varnish and clear coat by the use of thinners and retarders.
  • Ability to maintain finishing area inventories and supplies.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of the premises at both Arcola locations. You will perform maintenance tasks of great variety, such as minor semi-truck repairs, woodshop equipment repairs, minor electrical system maintenance, pond maintenance, etc.

A Maintenance Technician is a professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines.

The goal is to maintain the buildings/grounds and vehicles/equipment in the best possible condition.

Responsibilities

  • Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems (including preventive maintenance on sump pumps, backup generator, air compressor, etc.), ensuring they are consistent with health and safety standards
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels, etc.)
  • Maintain geothermal system to ensure functionality
  • Schedule 3rd party maintenance (e.g. fire/security alarm systems)
  • Perform manual repairs as needed (fix locks, etc.)
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping, snow removal on walkways, etc.) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)
  • Schedule truck maintenance appointments and perform preventive maintenance on each vehicle and trailer
  • Oversee major repairs on truck/trailer fleet, and perform minor repairs (e.g. trailer wiring, changing trailer wheels, etc.)
  • Maintain/repair production equipment/tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of electrical and other systems
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of production equipment and tools
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus
